I did hear that Doreen is wearing rubber - but it may just have been a rumour. My source tells me it looks very fetching.

I hope the trimmings are properly recycled Eleanor - won`t they attract a lot of seagulls? If we feed them on crumbs from your Special Cake who knows what might happen? Mind you, the mermaid thing sounds lovely - Doreen might be a teeny-weeny bit envious of that.

Do you mean my "lighthouse hat?" I think it would be rather appropriate, don`t you? I`ll have to fix it at the top though, as Lyn chopped it off the last time she ran amok with the scissors.

I`m just a bit woried about Jean`s old curtains - will they be waterproof, do you think?

I decided against wearing rubber, I thought it would be more tasteful to wear my red ,white and blue bikini with gold tassels, a rather fetching little number. Cool Cool
I need a new padlock for the medicinal cupboard on the tea trolley, Lyn has been hacking at it to get at the special cake and medicinal whiskey.RollEyes
The medicinal brandy needs stocking up because I had rather a pressing need for it recently. Apart from that. the trolley is suitably tarted up and ready to go.

Love your band, Doreen!! Are you sure it will fit in the boat? I`m not too sure about the bikini - it`s hard work rowing, you know, so make sure it`s a snug fit.Blushing

That is such a relief about the "aroma" Eleanor - Jean was threatening to waft her air freshener all over the rollocks.

Might I advise you all wear gloves girls, we don`t want any blisters forming while we row. On Eleanor`s advice I have been practising on the lake which formed outside our house yesterday, after the torrential rain we had.

I haven`t thought of anywhere to put Lyn yet - I think we need a strongroom.

And how on earth do we find the time to clear away the tea trolley AND the band?! I can see it now - all over the front page of The Sun; "Woman in rank mermaid costume pulled out of tuba for her own safety". Can you just picture it? And, of course, Doreen tottering along behind in her 8 inch platforms with her trolley and Kathleen in that blasted hat. Oh, the shame of it. I suppose we could always lash Lyn to the big pink drum?

The Sun is just what Doreen is aiming for as she is hoping to get a page three spread Jean! LOL Blink Kathleen is her manager and roadie, which is why she is having to train so hard on the newly formed lake outside of her house. Laugh Dor is insisting that she will not be doing her share of the rowing, as she will be entertaining the throngs along the banks of the Thames, so Kathleen will have to take her turn.Confused Kathleen is looking more like Charles Atlas with all this excercise, so we may get her a spread in the paper too! ThumpUp Wub I just hope that Julie is knitting napkins for the tea trolley, after all this is a classy affair. As for Lyn, she will cut the ties on the big drum! Scared Scared I suggest that we shove her down the tuba!!!BigGrin

I`m getting seriously worried this boat will sink under the weight of the band, the tea trolley, ourselves, the Special Cake, the booze and Doreen`s 8 inch platforms.

It`s quite a good idea to put Lyn in the tuba - surely she can`t hack her way out of there?

It`s all very well me practising hard on our lake, but I can`t take the strain all on my own. Everyone will need to man those oars - or even woman them - it`s very hard work you know!

Exactly what sort of entertainment is Doreen going to provide for the throngs? It`s meant to be a tasteful occasion, and Doreen hasn`t done tasteful for ages - in fact I think she`s forgotten how.

By the way Jean, if we do fall in, at least I`ll be easily spotted in my famous hat! I did consider bringing the snake along................

Okay---while you have all been fussing and panicking over who is going to row I have been working hard and accessing my friend lists and have persuaded these young men to do the rowing for us? Is that okay?

I think my jazz band is very tasteful Kathleen, just the thing for a good old knees up, which the Queen and Philip will loveLaugh

I don't think I can be expected to help with the rowing when I have the tea trolley and the band to look after.RollEyes Eleanor will help with that once she's had her fill of the special cake and medicinal pernod , but don't expect her to steerLOL

Oh wow! I've just seen Julie's photoLove
Maybe I will help with the rowing after all.

No worries about the rowing guys ... I'll help these young men Wub out! ThumpUp Breathing will be fixed by then and I'll be as right as rain! I have done a fair bit of rowing in my time (I'm being serious, no need to laugh!) so will be able to give these chaps Wub some tips and point them in the right direction. Remind me again, where are we going in this rowing boat? Is this the Jubilee or the Olympics? Confused No, surely it's too short notice to enter the Olympics as a rowing team (with tea trolley and band!)?

I'm not to sure about being stuck in a strong room, attached to the big pink drum (although I'd love to bang it - done some of that too Tongue , but not at the same time as rowing Scared ) or, Eleanor, being shoved down a tuba!! I must get on with designing my costume, will have to give it some serious consideration bearing in mind what everyone else is wearing.

It's going to be a wonderful 'do' so I think I might just look out for a new 'tool'. Bit fed up with the old scissors and chainsaw, might have a butchers and see if I can find something more in keeping with the occasion. Hmmm ... 'thinks'!

Well done with all the training Kathleen. All that rain we've had has been great for providing you with your own personal lake. It's going to be a tough call what with the tea trolley, the band, the four young men Wub and all of us on board. Do you think we might be better in a river barge? Laugh

Please don't mention a word of this to Lyn, but I've had an idea! We could tell her she is the star of the show with her new light sabre (heaven help us) and tow her behind the boat on a platform "so that everyone will be able to see her". She will then be unable to resist cutting the towing ropes and sink. By the time she has been rescued we will be long gone! Plan or what!!
